STESSA is the specialty conference on seismic design and performance of steel structures. Its main mission is to provide an international forum for researchers and engineers to share with their peers the latest developments in the field of seismic behaviour of steel structures.
Previous editions of STESSA were held in Timisoara (Romania, 1994), Kyoto (Japan, 1997), Montreal (Canada, 2000), Naples (Italy, 2003), Yokohama (Japan, 2006), Philadelphia (United States, 2009), Santiago (Chile, 2012), Shanghai (China, 2015) and Christchurch (New Zealand, 2018).
The 10th International Conference on the Behaviour of Steel Structures in Seismic Areas (STESSA 2022) is to take place on 25 - 27 May 2022 in Timisoara, Romania. It is organised by Politehnica University of Timisoara and the Romanian Academy, Timisoara Branch, in cooperation with the University of Naples "Federico II".
The 10th anniversary edition of the STESSA conference returns to Timisoara, the city where it started, as a tribute to Victor Gioncu, who came with the idea of initiating the series of conferences dedicated to the behaviour of steel structures in seismic areas. This conference will bring together academics, researchers and engineers from around the world to discuss the latest developments related to the behaviour of steel structures in seismic areas.

Traditionally, STESSA Conference was, and hopefully still will be, a large forum of scientists around the world, aiming at meeting each other, exchanging ideas on the progress of research on seismic resistant steel structures, through debates in technical session and free discussions. The social events within the Conference had also their role in strengthening both professional and human links. Unfortunately, the evolution of COVID-19 pandemic makes impossible keeping the initial date of the conference in a traditional format. Under these circumstances, we decided to postpone the 10th edition of STESSA for 25 - 27 May 2022.

To submit an abstract, you will have to create an account. To do so click on the [Login] in the top-right corner of the page or [Submit a new abstract] and enter your email. You will receive a verification email containing a link that must be used to activate the account. After activation of the account, you will be asked to fill out a form with your contact details. This is a one-time process.
Once you have created the account, please log in to https://indico.upt.ro/e/stessa2021 and submit the abstract directly online (there is no need to attach a file). In case you need help, please see a short video tutorial here.
Abstracts should indicate the scope of the paper and highlight its original contributions. The length of the abstract should be between 200 and 300 words. Please provide up to 6 keywords and select one of the topics (tracks) to which your paper suits best. Abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee, and you will be notified of the decision as soon as possible.
Authors of accepted abstracts are invited to submit their full papers here: indico.upt.ro/event/1/papers/. Regular papers should be 8 pages long and should be edited using the template provided at the same link. Papers can be prepared in Microsoft Word (preferred) or Latex. Please download, fill in, sign, and upload the publishing agreement together with your paper. Each submission should consist of (1) the paper in editable format Word/Latex, (2) the paper in PDF format, and (3) the publishing agreement, all of them uploaded in one step.
